Science of Soap Making

Soap Making is a Science and and an ART

3 KEY POINTS about SOAP:

1) Dated back to 2800BC , Ancient Babylonians mixed fats and ashes together to make the vey first soap which is cured over 4-6 weeks . This process is called Cold process soap making , which generally yields gentle, moisturizing, long lasting bars which is safe for you and for the environment without polluting waters with harsh chemical agents.

2) Soap making is a Science and an art.
The simple formula as below:
Fat + Sodium Hydroxide => solid Soap + Glycerin
Fat + Potassium Hydroxide => Liquid Soap + Glycerin

3) Soap manufactured by commercial companies often remove the highly beneficial glycerin and add other chemical components like detergents, parabens, Sodium lauryl sulfate, phthalates to enhance more lather (Check any commercial soap ingredient list for more details).
But cold process soap retains the glycerin and does not have synthetic detergents that are harmful for daily repeated usage.
